Displaying Debug Information

The debugger can display the following debug information:

The displayed debug information is updated at the following times:

Displaying Variables

To display the contents of variables:

  1. Press the 'Watch' toolbutton or select the 'Watch' command from the Debug menu to display the Watch dialog box (see the figure below).
  2. In the Variable field, specify the variable to be displayed.
  3. Click the Add button. The specified variable is then registered in the variable field. When the program is executed, the current variable contents are displayed on the right-hand side of the "=" symbol.

Variable contents are not displayed when any of the following is true:

To delete the registered variable, do one of the following:

  1. In the Variable field, specify the variable name to be deleted and click the Delete button.
  2. Click the registered variable, then click the Delete button. If you click the Delete button without clicking a variable, the first variable in the variable field is deleted.

To delete all the variables registered in the variable field, click the Clear button.

Displaying Registers

To display the register contents, press the 'Registers' toolbutton or select the 'Registers' command from the Debug menu.

The current register contents are displayed in the Registers window:


Displaying a Traceback

To display a traceback, press the 'Traceback' toolbutton or select the 'Traceback' command from the Debug menu.

The current traceback information is displayed in the Traceback window:


Displaying a Load Map

To display a load map, press the 'Map' toolbutton or select the 'Map' command from the Debug menu.

The current loaded modules are displayed in the Map window:

Displaying Program Output

When a debug session is in progress, the program output is displayed in a separate window that is automatically displayed while the program is running. If the program is a console application, a console window is provided for output, otherwise, whatever UI window that is programmed will be visible.
